Our Story
Welcome to Legends Steakhouse, a family owned and operated restaurant. Where a mother and son have decided to make their dreams come true. The dream is to bring our small hometown of Murphy, North Carolina a nice, classy, and family orientated restaurant.
It all began when I was a little girl watching my mother, an entrepreneur herself, work and run two restaurants of her own. I remember my mother taking the time to make everything from scratch and with love and passion for turning her customers into and extended part of our family. She was able to do that with down home, southern hospitality.
When my son Cody Allen turned fourteen years old, he decided to start working at a family owned and operated restaurant, here in Murphy. His goal was to put back money for his first car. Little did he know that one decision would spark a fire that would lead him being a restaurant owner himself. Thinking back of all the fond memories of watching and working with my mother, I wanted to have the chance to experience that with my son as well. Within a week, I decided to start working there to help put money back for his car and have the same experience I had with my mother growing up.
After working all through High School at the restaurant. Cody then went to attend college at Western University, where he received two degrees in business Administration and Entrepreneurship. While in college, Cody held onto his dream of one day owning his own business. The dream was Legends Steakhouse. Since opening in October 2020. Our story has evolved quite a bit. Cody went from a young bachelor to family man when he married the love of his life Shanelle. Completing our family even more. On June 17, 2024 they became the parents of a beautiful baby girl named Isla James Allen and making me a grandmother.

Having this vision in mind, Cody and I began making this dream a reality. Cody had always said that he wanted it to be a place where our community, family and friends could come together and enjoy a great meal and spend time together.
We truly are a family owned restaurant, with strong family values. If you look around, even our decor is based around family and friends, I feel in order for you to understand our family, you must know a little about our big, crazy, fun loving family. On most any given day you can see myself, Cody, and Matt, my husband, cooking right beside Cody. My youngest son Caleb, who used to be a manager here, is now a deputy for the Murphy Police Department. His wife, Kayleigh, is one of our Front of the House Managers and Bartender. From time to time you will even see Danny the boys Dad and stepmother Marcia, jumping in and helping us out. Together we try our best to make your experience at Legends rememberable and one to go home and talk to your family and friends about.
So together Cody and I began making his dream a reality. Cody had always said that he wanted it to be a place where our community, friends and family could come together and enjoy a great meal and the experience of a nice, classy family restaurant.
What does Legends mean to us? Legends to us are our Military, Law Enforcement, First Responders, Fire Fighters, Medical Fields, Education, and Line Men. These are men and women that make our community a great and safe place to live. A place to be proud of and to call home. Being born and raised here has given us the chance to see Murphy, North Carolina grow and to have the opportunity to get to know and serve the people we consider "legends".
Thank you from the proud owner and mother, Selina.
